A typeface forged in the north of England for the largest people-powered letterpress printing press in the world. Graft is a new condensed typeface from Split. Designed as a display face for the giant People Powered Press — recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest of its kind in the world — it has been expanded for digital release in four weights and with an extensive character set. Proceeds from all sales of the font will be used to support the People Powered Press and its work. The letters’ forms take inspiration from the north’s rich industrial heritage, using the shape of the cross section of a steel I-beam as their starting point. However, it is through their purpose, to amplify local voices—in part realised through the creation of the People Powered Press—that we offer up Graft as a typeface for the North. Broad ee-bah-gum-Yorkshire is by no means the only language spoken in the north of England. Graft’s extensive character set has been designed in recognition of our linguistic diversity. Over 300 languages are now spoken in the UK. For the many northerners speaking the wide variety of languages using the Roman alphabet, Graft works.

Pamplemousse is mostly sweet and just a little sophisticated, and he likes being just as he is. Pamplemousse started out as a typeface based on the lettering of Gustav Klimt in his poster for the first exhibition of the Vienna Secession movement (Art Nouveau). This drifted into an homage to Rea Irvin's iconic masthead typeface for the New Yo...

A solo career in posters, banners and logos doesn’t stop Bridge Head from rocking in concert: each of her 18 display styles can work together with Bridge Text to tell stories and build complex typographic ensembles in editorial and corporate design. Where other display typefaces let their thin strokes fade away, Bridge Head keeps the volume and emphasises her wedge serifs and curvy detailing. A large x-height brings out her distinctions, like the four-cornered counter shapes, the voluminous terminals and the monolinear lines that connect her thick strokes and help give Bridge her graphic image. A type system flexible enough to bridge print publishing to digital media, with a kickass K and rebellious ...
